A story of wine that begins back in 1889 with Joaquín Martínez Bujanda, the first generation of this winery saga who at the time was already making wine in Oyón, the family’s native town. His son Marcelino followed in his steps, as did his grandson Jesús who, along with his son of the same name, and currently chairman of the winery, set up Bodegas Valdemar in the 1980s. This wine is from an exclusive selection of our plots Balcón de Pilatos (Maturana), Seis Alhajas (Graciano) and Campillo (Tempranillo), the latter with more than 45 years of age.
VARIETY: 70% Tempranillo, 15% Maturana and 15% Graciano.
13 months in French and American fine grain oak barrels.
It has a bright cherry colour with a high layer. It displays intense aromas to black fruit (plum, blackberry), licorice as well as balsamic, spicy and cedar wood touches. Complex and elegant. In mouth, it is rounded, structured and balanced, with well-integrated ripe tannins.
The perfect match for all kinds of meat, especially grilled red meat and stews. It also pairs well with oily fish such as salmon and turbot, and with cheeseboards and Iberian-pork
